Now Daniel Whitney is one of the most recognized comedians in America. On impulse, the comedian introduced the character on a national radio program, the Bob and Tom Show, where he closed out the short segment with a line that he is most famous for now: “Get ‘er done.”(2) One of these characters was a Southerner with a long drawl, whose career was installing television cable. ![]() It all began in 1991 when he started to gain some fame as a regular caller on radio shows across the country, where he played out various characters that he had developed for the stage. Whitney says these two men inspired the accent he uses while being Larry the Cable Guy. While attending college, he lived with one man from Georgia and one from Texas (2). He attended college at the Baptist University of America in Decatur Georgia, but dropped out to peruse his passion for comedy. Whitney was born and raised on a pig farm in Pawnee City, Nebraska, and he is hardly what we consider a Southerner with his Mid-western upbringing. ![]() I don’t care who you are that’s funny right there!” This comedian is Daniel Whitney, or, better known by his persona, Larry the Cable Guy. On his head he dons a camouflage baseball hat with the Confederate flag and the words “Git-er-Done.” He delivers jokes to the audience like “Did you know Brittany Spears hurt her leg and had to cancel some dates? They said with the proper rehabilitation she would be back on her knees in no time. Dressed in a cut-off plaid shirt with old, faded blues jeans, a short plump man cavorts across the stage.
